Twitter Marketing Tips

Twitter Marketing Tips to Get More Followers and Traffic

Twitter is the most exciting technology as well as the most important marketing revolution on the internet today. It is a tool for micro-blogging or posting very short updates, comments or thoughts. It lets you update your status and lets the whole world know what you are up to. There are millions of addicts all over the world, and the number of active users has increased rapidly.

It can be used in a number of ways. Today webmasters are looking it as a great marketing and PR tool. They use it to promote their website and blogs. They send their articles or products to thousands of potential readers/buyers with one tweet. They announce special deals and sales instantly to a large audience. Companies also use this micro-blogging tool to promote themselves.

This article will guide you how to get more twitter followers and traffic. Below are the step by step method on twitter marketing tips and strategies:

How to Use Twitter for Marketing and PR - A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: The first step for twitter marketing is to sign up and post a profile on twitter. Fill in all the fields and include your website URL. You can also personalize your page to match your company's branding. Use a custom background for your profile to promote your company brand. (E.g. custom background)

Step 2: It allows you to import contacts from Gmail, Hotmail and your own address book. Do it. This will help you grow your network.

Step 3: Write some updates. It allows a limit of 140 characters to post your tweet. Post a link to an article you liked with a one line comment, mention an interesting thought you had. If you have a really long URL, use TinyURL.com to take a long URL and make it short.

Step 4: To get more followers, you need to learn some tips. Don't spam others about your products or services. Follow other users and be active in the community. Only post useful and relevant information. Don't tweet every five minutes. It becomes annoying. Engage in conversations. Re-tweet (reply to others tweets) often.

Step 5: If you want to market your product using this micro-blogging tool, do it the smart way. Don't promote your company directly. For example, if you want to sell a product, write a review article or a buyer's guide about the product that you sell and tweet about that blog post. That is useful information.

Step 6: Make friends. Making friends on it is very easy. Just surf around the web on your favorite blogs, people's Facebook profiles etc, and when you see a Twitter box, click on it. This will bring you to their profile and then you just click on the "Follow" button on the top left and you are now following them. Most of the time they will then follow you back. You can get started by following me: Nick Mutt on Twitter. You can also click on the people that other people are following to find more people to follow.

Step 7: Increase your followers. There are many things you can do to build your followers base. Put a link to "Follow Me on Twitter" everywhere (your email signature, forums, website, and business cards). Every time you post on your blog, invite people to follow you. There are many twitter directories that are good place to find members who are likely to follow you.

Step 8: Maintain a balance between people you follow and people that follow you. If a lot of people follow you and you don’t follow them, they will stop following you. If you are following plenty of people but just a few are following you, you'll be seen as a spammer trying to grow your follower base as quickly as possible. So the best way to maintain balance is to grow slowly. Instead of adding 100 new followers all of a sudden, add maybe 50 and wait for them to follow you back. Then follow another 50.

Step 9: Use the symbol @ before someone's twitter username to chat with the person. This makes their username a link to their profile so other people can follow the conversation. For example if you wrote "@nickmutt thanks for the informative article about Twitter today" that would be a way of telling me you liked this article. Try it out. Conversation with other will engage others to your profile and help grow your follows list.

Step 10: Monitor conversations about your company. Watch what people are saying about your company or brand. This is quite useful from a marketing and PR standpoint. Twitter has a search engine (search.twitter.com) that lets you do just this. You can subscribe to these searches by RSS to keep yourself updated. You can join the conversation and tell people the latest announcements about your company.

There are many webmasters that use it to promote their business but they do not use the latest marketing techniques. They search all over the internet for free promotion tips on how to promote their websites or products on twitter. This is the big mistake they make.

In order to make the quick money flow to your bank account, you need to execute the latest and most advanced marketing techniques that all successful millionaire webmasters are using. Below are some of the highly recommended marketing blueprints from leaders in the internet marketing:
