Successful ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Implementation

Enterprise Resource Planning is one of most widely used business software systems in all segments of industries and organizations. In this article, we will explain the basic concept of ERP, which will help in successful implementation. ERP implementation utilizes various ERP software applications to improve overall performance of organizations. It includes - resource planning, management control, operational control and better reporting (MIS)

ERP software consists of multiple modules like Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Production, Finance etc. that integrates activities across all functional departments. It streamlines and improves organizations' business processes.

ERP software implementation is not a simple task. Successful implementation has several needs that must be satisfied in order for payback to come to fruition. Implementation requires dedication to the project by management along with all employees. Management can drive their employee and motivate them to involve with full dedication. Management can take brainstorming session to all key employees to streamline their department with new ERP system. With the help of key employees vendor can do GAP analysis and list out the vital, essential and desirable work for implementation. In the first phase of implementation vendor will consider all vital things then essential and desire.

Do not put pressure to vendor to complete ERP implementation in given timeframe. This will prompt vendors to opt for shortcuts, which will be totally wrong step in implementation. Compromises in the short term will always turn into major problems/bugs on the long term.

Few important things should be considered in the ERP implementation

ERP Software: It should be branded and implemented by good vendor
Business Processes: It should be successful history in same vertical
Software Supports: Long term software support required.
User: User should be trained properly.
Hardware and Software: This should support to run application.
