Feng Shui Tips for Stairs

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Feng Shui about stairs teaches some important information on how to build your staircase and what to take into account when doing it. As you probably know, Feng Shui is a mixture of art and science with a history of over thousands of years and has the goal of bringing harmony between people and their surroundings. The whole idea behind Feng Shui is to control the flow of Chi - a special energy that connects everything in the universe. When we got things standing in the way of Chi and blocking it, that's when various problems start to attack us from all sides, like bad luck, health worries, financial issues and so on. But when we organize our homes and offices according to the rules of Feng Shui, then the Chi can flow freely and we start to feel the benefits.

Let's start with defining the perfect location for Feng Shui stairs. Masters in this art say that's the ideal location is southwest as that's the part that will bring in stability. An alternative location to southwest is northwest. Furthermore, the stairs should ascent from north to south or from east to west. Another important fact is that the steps should be in even numbers, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, and so on, but the number should never end in zero like 10. Also, there should not be a bathroom, toilet or a safe bellow the stairs, basically there shouldn't be anything below them. And the stairs shouldn't be spiral or circular.

Feng Shui about stairs teaches us that the staircase should never directly face the front door of the given building, because that's how the rush of Chi energy that comes into your home when someone walks in goes straight up the stairs causing an imbalance. Such a scenario will flush out your personal energy and financial wealth. But in case the architecture is such that it makes it unavoidable, then you can fix the problem by adding a mirror at the bottom of the staircase to absorb and slow down some of that Chi.

If case you got raisers rather than steps for stair ways, have in mind that this will negatively affect the free flow of Chi to the upper floor. So if that's your situation, you can deal with it by placing plants under the stair ways so that they can deflect the Chi to the upper floor and make the whole flow continuous.

It's recommended that you build stairs that go up in a curvy manner as that enables the Chi to flow freely everywhere. In case there are sharp twists and turns in you stairway, then use mirrors and plants to ease up the situation. Or alternatively, you can position a heavy statue on the floor under the stairs to bring in some stability to the Chi, even though we mentioned already that it's best to leave that space empty. However, you have to make compromises at times, especially when the home or office has already been build that way and there is not much you can do to change it. That's the essence of Feng Shui about stairs.
