How dragon originated in Chinese culture is unknown but it is found in almost all the Chinese festivals and mythological creations. The Chinese dragon is basically, made from a combination of many animals. It has the body of snake, deer antlers, eyes of a demon, and claws of eagle and fish tail. The dragon symbol contains the face of a mysterious character called "gilin". Dragon found in Chinese mythology can fly and it looks mysterious as it is made up of many different types of animals. Basically, the Dragon is chasing a flaming pearl and hence, it flies to chase the pearl.

Dragon is mainly associated to the number nine and it is one of the lucky numbers of Chinese astrology. On carefully examining it, you find many nines in the picture. The scales of dragon are made in the multiples of nine. The nine numbers denote the nine sons of dragon, who are mythological creatures in Chinese culture. The sons of dragon are: Celestial, Underground, Spiritual, Winged, Horned, Coiling, Yellow and Dragon King. The yellow dragon teaches to write and the coiling dragon lives in water. The main dragon of all the sons is the hidden treasures dragon.

People belonging to the dragon signs have leadership qualities and they are strong leaders. These people tend to be bossy and they have a good chance of achieving money and wealth in life. Dragons are also considered opportunists and the sign is also linked to oceans.



In Feng Shui, Dragon Yang is said to be compatible with Yin and both together bring happiness to marital life. Coins of dragon and Phoenix are very auspicious and these coins are tied to represent the combination of yin and yang. Three coins of yin and yang together are said to be a combination of heaven, humanity and earth. To bring balance between the three, the coins are given to somebody.

In Chinese astrology, dragon is one of the twelve zodiac signs and people who are born under the dragon signs are considered royal. It is fifth sign of the Chinese zodiac and its direction is 97.5 to 127.5 degrees. Rat and monkey are friends of Dragon and Rooster is its secret friend. Dragon placed in northwest corner of your house gives you patriarch's favour. It can be placed in many parts of the house to encourage good luck, but it should not be kept in bed room or toilet. It should be kept below the eye level to keep it under control.

The Dragon is considered to be a strong celestial animal and it represents the direction east. It is a symbol of luck and wealth. In ancient China, kings were considered dragon and only the kings were allowed to keep this symbol. In Feng Shui, Dragon creates an energy called Chi or Sheng Chi and this energy makes a person successful in all areas of his life.
